The "palace" building is not big or spectacular (although I understand there are some history to it), but its pretty well maintained compared to other historical building i've seen in other countries.

Gunnebo Castle is a great wooden castle that is rural but only 10 km from Sweden's second largest city. It is well worth a visit. Check that guided tours will take place when you're there. I have never been inside the palace, only visited the gardens which are amazing. Have also been there for a Christmas market, which was a lovely experience (but very crowded). Can clearly recommend a picnic or something here in the summer.
