This is a very dramatic sculpture located beside the Anglican Church and near the Mermaid. The sprays of water a placed so that it gives the impression the wheels on the chariot are racing along so it adds a sense of drama to the sculpture.

Sorry, but I found this to be more impressive than the Little Mermaid. If you're visiting the Little Mermaid then the walk from there via Kastellet, the harbour and the fountain is very nice, particularly on a sunny day. Fountain is based on the legendary Norse goddess, Gefjun.
Gefion is the mythical woman that cut out the island of Sealand from Sweden. Here represented in in a beautiful fountain by the harbour and Kastellet. Go and see it if you are near by. Combine with Kastellet, The little mermaid and a harbour walk.
Free.We just like it a lot because of the dramatic history behind it.Located by the English Church, the statue of Winston Churchill and walking distance from palace and the mermaid.
I walked past this on my way to the Little Mermaid and Kastellet, its an very impressive monument and worth going to see.
I had heard about the Gefion Fountain in the same context as the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
Well, the Gefion Fountain is for sure an impressive big tiered fountain in walking distance to the little Mermaid, the symbol of Copenhagen.
It is the largest monument in Copenhagen and also used as a wishing well ... and I for sure used...

You can feel the power of the woman and her trusty sons/bulls drivng the plough and creating Zealand. if you are walking to see the Little Mermaid this is a much more impressive work. Also nearby at the head office of AP Moller (Maersk - the white building with blue windows you walk past down Amaliegade) there is a Henry...

The fountain itself it worth a look and it was pleasant to sit by on the hot summer day we were there. Certainly find out the the story behind it as it gives the context to the statue.
If you're going to visit this one, do not do it in the winter haha. It's cool looking but wouldn't make a special trip out of the way just to see it. However it's just down from Little Mermaid so not that far out of the way.
We went to denmark in the winter so the fountain was closed and no water running but the statue itself is wonderful to see. we walked from the little mermaid to the fountain then on to Nyhaven, It was wonderful but cold.
