I spent the most time in the bronze age section learning about the heritage and mythology of Denmark. At the time the curators had interspersed art pieces with the artifacts, and it was interesting to try and initially guess what was what until I began to read the information. Probably the best one there was a very realistic-looking mermaid mummy.

The museum was amazing. There was so much to see and extremely OLD artifacts from around the world. Also...it was FREE! It was walking distance from our hotel, and the guard even gave us a token for a locker for our packs. Bring your camera and set aside several hours.

It's free, so you can go back and forth during the time of your stay. I agree with one of the other contributors - there's a lot to see, it would be daft to "do it" in one visit. We spent about three hours just going round the pre-historic section. Lots of wonderful displays, well lit and labelled, fascinating.

Don't even try to get through this in an hour or two. You could really spend several days in order to see everything this museum has to offer! Really well laid out, too!

We had a couple of hours to spare so thought we'd head in as its free admission. Having been to a couple of large/popular museums around Europe and this was our favorite. It has a great Egyptian exhibit and the Danish general history/way of living is pretty cool to see. The toy exhibit is also very interesting. You can spend... More

Need to go back as only managed to see half of this free to enter museum. Greek exhibition alone was worth the visit. Restaurant is worth a review on its one, best chicken sandwich ever and great coffee. Staff very helpful.

I enjoyed this visit to learn some more about Danish history (early viking stuff and also 17, 18 & 19th centuries).
