Colorful buildings line the canal and hint at a history of small-vessel traffic. Like many ports, this strip has a salty history, rich with sailors, drinking and literary exploits. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen made his home in Nyhavn as well. It's cleaned up now and is a lovely place for a stroll. « less

Beautiful city scene leading to the harbour. Absolutely lovely! Note - it is extremely busy on a Sunday particularly, but who can blame the locals wanting to share the area with the tourists! Full of lots of little bars and eateries but most too expensive for me. However, for simply soaking up the atmosphere, it is a beautiful place and... More

If people watching and enjoying outdoor life is your thing, then Nyhavn is the place in Copenhagen. This canal is lined with dozens of bars and restaurants where you can sit and linger for as long as you want. Prices are high, of course, but it was quite enjoyable to partake. Cold weather or rain are no problems because they... More

It's all about fairy tells: the little colorful cottages, lovely sailboards and tasty ice cream what else you need to feel happy ? It's especially nice on sunny evenings and you suddenly realize that you cant effort yourself to go back to hotel.

We have all seen the photos of this famous region, so obviously it's on the bucket list of things to do. The restaurants along the water are nice not too expensive but can be hard to find a seat, when the weather is less than kind it's interesting to see knee rugs to ward off the cold, kind of funny... A must visit area of Copenhagen! We loved the chilled atmosphere, you could have food in one of the many restaurants or you could just sit quay-side and eat a pic nic whilst drinking cheap 'take-away' beer from the restaurants/bars dottered along the harbour. We spent a fun afternoon drinking and people watching in the sun....

This area really is a beautiful and picturesque as everyone says and is a must visit if you are in Copenhagen. It is great for a stroll along the harbour front and there are plenty of places to eat and drink. While we didn't go to any of these (some seemed rather expensive) they were all busy and would be... We stayed in this area of town and loved it. It was so close to many sites and the Central Station. The boat canal tours take off from here, there are great restaurants and I was able to walk to many things including Amelianbourg Palace, The Little Mermaid, The Marble Church and there were numerous buses that could take me... We traveled in June and had fantastic weather! 22C/72F and sunny! Nyhavn has many outdoor restaurants all serving much of the same food. Had great mussels and fish and chips in a wonderful setting! Atmosphere was great with postcard views. Highly recommend.

We walked to Nyhavn to get a canal boat ride. The whole area was filled with people. Lots of Cafes and restaurants along this row of beautiful Danish buildings fronting the canal and its variety of boats. It is quite a sight and it gets very crowded.
