A bit off from the beaten path but an easy walk from the marina. History is amazing and caves are visible from the road on the way to the war museum. Leros did a great job in preserving the WWII history. More

Interesting museum which explains a lot of things about Leros and the Italian occupation. Tanks and airplanes are exhibited in the yard. There's a film that shows pictures of world war 2 in Leros and explains how this island was a strategic place in this part of Europe. More

The war museum is housed in a pre ww2 vintage Itallian millitary storage tunnel which runs deep into the hillside - which lends the museum a very atmospheric feel. The museum is concerned with the 1943 battle for Leros and the Itallian Millitary "occupation" of the Island prior to this. There is a wealth of British/ German / Itallian weaponry... More
