The Plaka has lost some of it's old charm, with the hundreds of tee-shirt shops, cheesy souvenir places, and constant hawking of food, but there's enough here to make it worth exploring. There are some great restaurants in and around the Plaka, but there are many who serve frozen souvlaki and moussaka, so look at reviews first and don't fall... More

Top heavy with restaurants and souvenir shops. The place has a buzz and is visually stunning with the Acropolis looming over it, all lit up in the evenings. More

Marble streets ???? What ? Yes, and terrific, interesting shops in a place where you would expect to find souvenir and tourist junk only. Check it out when you're there More

Finding an upbeat atmosphere in Greece at the moment is not easy, but your best bet is in the Plaka. Good retaurants and bars and a far more relaxed feeling than around our hotel (near the archeological museum). More

The Plaka is a beautiful area but it is nothing more than an agglomerate of cheap stores selling everything you don't to buy. Salespeople can be very rude. If you don't speak some Greek you must get ready to get bad food for a ridiculous price. More

This is the place to get your souvenirs. Anything from traditional Greek worry beads, an Icon painted at a Cycladic monastery to an Athens Fire department shirt. More

Anything you will ever need in Athens, you can find here! Restaurants, tavernas, shops and more adorn the beautifully twisting, winding streets. Just dont forget your sense of direction though. Those twisty roads are nice but a bit confusing. More

Plaka is one of the most beautiful areas in Athens. There is a unique ambient there. You feel the ancient greek culture in the small streets. Acropolis may be seen from almost everywhere. Really a nice experience. Culturally and gastronomically!! More
