We saw a little of the changing of the guards during the week from a far, but we made a point to get there around 10:30 to take pictures standing by the guards and then they had the formal Sunday changing of the guards ceremony. Sooo Fabulous!! must see

A walk near the parliament during the afternoon is a nice break after shopping in the city center to watch the soldiers with their traditional customs at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Especially for Greek people this is a plce of high symbolism. I do think though that all visitors should pay tribute to our unknow soldiers that sacrificed their life to keep our culture, our language, our freedom. Everyhour there is a change of guards not to be missed. Please be respectful, with my family we encountered once a young lady... More

make an effort to be at the tomb of the unknown soldier on the hour when the guard changes. quite a show with their high stepping (mimicing horses) in their unique costumes. After the guard changing they allow you to get up next to the guards for pictures

Today at 5pm we stumbled across a group of tourists flocking to see what we soon learned was the changing of the guard. I had read about this on tripadvisor and assumed that we had missed it earlier in the day but alas we did not. I've seen this event at other tombs and they are always a good attraction,... More

While your stay in Athens , in a Sunday morning at 11:00 go to Syntagma square to see the Tomb Of The Unkwon Soldier....remember at 11 A/M is the time of changing guards with their traditional uniforms only on Sunday...don't miss.

This should be on everyone's list while in Athens. I know most people are here for the ruins and Acropolis, but the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier transcends borders and cultures. Very touching place. The changing of the guards is amazing, those soldiers perform the task flawlessly. You can see the respect, honor and pride in their eyes. The ceremony... More

Interesting part of Athens that I had not expected. Easy to find and fun to watch the guards 'dance' while they march.

We've been on many trips but seeing the changing of the guard here was so memorable. The uniforms they wear and those shoes! Please don't interfere or get in the way of the ceremony as its taken very seriously. Excellent!
