We went here on a cold and wet day - and were very pleasantly surprised. The gardens are interesting as is the house has some very beautiful furniture. And we found the fort at the top of the hill as a bonus!! Tip - try the little tea house across the road from the museum - it looked lovely.

We visited this Museum & Gardens on a Sunday afternoon in January,when the attractive looking Cafe in the gardens was not open & nor were the first floor rooms in the Museum.
Nevertheless we spent an hour in the ground floor exhibition area which covered some very fine 16th & 17th Century Cabinets in beautiful condition,together with some unique Gold...

An oasis of calm. The gardens are great. The plant nrusery is wonderful. The house is opulent in the extreme.
The newly built Cafe never seems to be open!!!!
