Loved the views; lots of steps though so you need to be reasonable fit. My favourite day of the trip

Loved the views; lots of steps though so you need to be reasonable fit. My favourite day of the trip
Having been to Madeira several times and visited Funchal and the Valley of the Nuns, we wanted to see the South East of the Island, culminating in Ponta de Sao Lourenco. Through the internet we discovered that there were no group tours on the day we were there (a Friday), so we booked a private 4 hour car tour with...

It reminded us of a welsh or Cornish coast line especially as it was very windy and grey! However that said there is a nice walk, plenty of parking ( not sure about high season though) and lovely scenery.
This is a great day trip from Funchal. There is easy bus service from downtown, or you can get a meter taxi (which is not cheap - around 50-55 euros) and walk is not easy but not too difficult either. Be aware that there is no shade (we both got a bit burnt) and no facilities en route: towards the...

a wild place where we fell like the world ends... or begins. Completing diferente from the rest of the island

The trip took about 40 minutes and cost 4...

beautiful coast and light house and you can see the desertas islands and around to the northern side as well
This well maintained path consistently surprises with amazing views. It's a busy route, but the scenery more than makes up for the crowds. The route is, I would say easy/moderate. There are some steep and narrow bits, but there's often protection to help you stay on course. We went on a very windy day, and some people were really struggling...

Definitely concur with others that this is not an easy walk and good hiking boots are a neccessity. The views are spectacular - although my wife and I didn't make it to the last section - turned back at the "information centre". As others said - there are no facilites here - except for the ice cream van at the...

My wife and I are fit and regular walkers in Cornwall and abroad. This is a great walk but unlike what some others have said and some guide books claim, it is not an "easy stroll". I would regard it as a moderate with at times the need to exert some effort and watch your footing. The area is starkly...
