We walked from Pico do Areeiro along the longer path which is about 7.5 km. The path is very well signposted and has handrails along all the difficult sections. Its a good 2.5 to 3 hours to reach Pico Ruivo, one of the highest peaks in Madeira. The views are stunning on top but also all along the route. For... More

“An easy stroll to a fine viewpoint”

The central mountain core of Madeira has several jagged ridges and pointed peaks, and although Pico Ruivo is the highest at 1862m, it is also a very easy mountain to climb.
