Definitely worth visiting! Take the 435 bus from the stop just in front of the Tourist Office in historic Sintra. The fare is 2 euros one way. You can pay the driver. The house is not furnished, but is mildly interesting even so, especially the 2-story library. What makes the visit great, though, is to book ahead for a tour...

The palace / manor house is impressive enough, all gargoyles, curlicues and even a turret-laboratory for the lord of the manor to cook up a Frankenstein. But truly, the gardens are mind boggling. Don't miss the underground passageway, emerging into the pentagrammed base of the Initiation Well. Spooky. It bubbled out of the imagination of an Italian opera set designer,...

What an incredible fantasy land. From the secret passageways, hidden waterfalls, and endless caverns, there are surprises everywhere in this beautiful park-like property. We absolutely loved this place, in fact it was more impressive than even the Palacio da Pena. Definitely worth a couple of hours here investigating all the nooks and crannies, and also the network of tunnels. It was a very Alice in Wonderland experience

It was as if we were transported into a Disney fairy tale. The gardens with the trees, flowers, fountains, turrets, and grotto's as if the fairy's waved their wand and each created a small space for them selfs. We have seen the gardens of Versailles and this does not disappoint in a smaller scale. Take your time and bring a flashlight and camera you will...

Spent a fascinating couple of hours there over Easter. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
It's just magical. Just a few mins walk from town centre along a safe path.
One of the best places we visited, don't miss. We forgot our torch, however
there is some strip lighting in the larger caves. Admission fee only Euro 6.00
well worth it.
