We stayed in Cascais and rented a scooter to drive around the coast and then up to Sintra. The palace is certainly the "must see" attraction on Sintra. The exterior is magnificent and there are great views of the surrounding area. Don't miss the "wall walk' that allows you to talk all the way around the perimeter of the palace... More

We visited here in conjunction with 2 other tourist attractions and it was not enough time as Sintra really requires 2 days and not one to enjoy it properly. The palace building here- the main attraction - is breath taking. The architecture and curiosities are amazing but there are acres of gardens and there are lakes and hidden follies and... More

From what we saw of Sintra, this was the number 1 attraction there. This is a nice place to get way from the city and well worth the visit to the town of Sintra. Going through the whole castle takes between 1 and 2 hours at a liesurely pace. The castle itself and the views from the castle are beautiful... More

This is really a must to se when you visit Lisbon. Use any way possible to get to the top, if you walk it will take a lot of your time. We used the Wanna TukTuk ? that gave us a ride up with a guided tour. Take your time when you come to the castle. Entrance fee is 13,5€/pers... More

We visited the Palacio National da Pena and the Moorish Castle in the same day and had a great trip. If you don't have a car, you can take a bus up the hill to the entrance of the Park. Or, you can venture with the brave souls who hike up the hill, but it's quite a walk! We compromised... More

Sintra is accessible by train from Rossio in Lisboa. The train ride is about 45 minutes. Sintra is beautiful, and its main attraction is the National Palace of Pena and its gardens. The palace is accessible by bus which stops next to the train station. After you get your ticket and enter, there is another 5-10 minutes uphill walk (there... More

Sintra is a beautiful city and the Palacio da Pena or Castelo da Pena is one of its main attractions. Access is difficult, but worth it. There is public transport (bus) but it is better to go by car. The view is beautiful. I suggest taking the internal transport to climb from the main entrance to the castle itself, otherwise... More

We booked a day trip from Lisbon in order to see the National Palace in Sintra. A fun contrast to busy Lisbon, this enchanting town with its many sights was a lot of fun. The palace, inside and out, was an amazing feat of architecture--and the views from its terraces are spectacular!

The Penna Palace is fascinating. We went on a misty morning and it looked very beautiful then the mist lifted and everything changed to be bright and colourful. Lovely rooms and well worth a visit
