Everybody says it's a "must" in Lisbon, couldn't agree more. The tram itself is lovely, so old-fashioned and atmospheric. The way it squeezes in incredibly narrow streets is spectacular. We took it two times - first from Martim Moniz to Calzado da Gloria, from which we walked to a wonderful viewing point, second time took it all the way through,... More

Tram 28E visits most of the old neighborhoods of Lisbon. It's an up and down ride with views of the Tagus River, the Castle, and the hilly streets of the Alfama, Chiado, and Baixa. We were careful and did not have our pockets picked. As a matter of fact, there was no commotion on the rides in either direction. Bring... More

When heading towards Jardim de Estrela, get off one stop before the gardens and walk uphill. Just after the stop there is a pastry shop (Pasteleria Estrela) immediately after the tram stop. Great espresso and custard tart for only €1.30! More

Riding the 28 tram is one of the Lisbon "must do" things. Some helpful tips: 1. Wait at a stop "28E" (Eletrico) since "28" is for the 28 bus! 2. It is more than a just a tourist sight - the route is excellent for moving between the Castelo (castle) area, Chiado (for shopping) and Bairro Alto (for restaurants and... More

My hubby and i loved tram 28, lots of stops so easy to get to, takes you up and down the narrow winding streets of different areas. Has a real vintage feel to it, we kept meaning to get off and walk but we couldnt bring ourselves to jump off before the end of the ride ! More

Very good travel service. Makes getting around a breeze. Just beware of the pickpockets. A man in our hotel was overheard complaining he was robbed of $500. First rule do not carry a large sum of cash and certainly not in your back pocket. On our tram the locals warned us of a small young boy of about 5, very... More

ideal opportunity to see the old Alfama area which is so unique. Our driver was so nice. Unfortunately on our trip, there was a problem with the first tram and we had a tram jam!! There were 4 or 5 trams lined up awaiting mechanical assistance which came and we were off again very quickly.. More

Every time the tram #28 is a unique experience for the entire family - sort of Cable Car experience in Europe with the vintage cars winding through the narrow streets, where cars, pedestrians, painters with ladders on the rails are constant obstacles of the yellow carriage. Fortunately the conductors have nerves of steel. More

We spent a 3 days week-end in Lisbon, middle of May. Our visited where supported by The city guide of Petit Futé, and advice on the Tram 28E was mentionned in the top 10 to do. Leaving from Martin Morits plazza, the Tram 12E is just next and less tourist are using it. In any case, every time, the tram was... More
