This is much more than your average aquarium, it's more of an experience. All of Lisbon is art and the oceanarium is no exception, from the mosaic sidewalk outside to the whale constructed of cans in the entrance. Subway stop right by. Make a day of it- visit the oceanarium, ride the telecabine, walk back on the pier and by... More

Great acquarium and one of the biggest ones I have seen! The best part were the temporary exposition about turtles and the otters. Loved the fact that you are able to see the wildlife above and under the water. A wholly different experience!

This aquarium is located in the newer part of town near the shopping mall. Lovely structure separated into two buildings; one for temporary exhibits (when I visited, they had a huge tank filled with sea turtles) and one for the permanent exhibits which include sharks, rays, penguins and more. Obviously there were quite a number of children running around, but... More

I loved the way that in the top half of the complex you could see birds and sea beavers (my favourite) on the surface and then downstairs what was in the pool and what going on at the top. I was amazed at the Sun fish - never seen one before.

The Oceanario is a great experience! The area was developed for the Expo 98 and the surroundings are also great whether you like shopping or just a walk along the seaside!

Well, if I have to suggest something to visit in Lisbon, despite all the beautiful monuments and great places, the Oceanario is simply beautiful. We spent a great morning surrounded by beautiful fishes in a very wide area.

Wonderful to stroll through the different geographically themed areas as well as the large tank in the centre of everything. The otters where the stars of the show, but everything was so stunning.

You really have to go and visit the Oceanario, the best & greatest I have ever seen in Europe. The price is a bit high but you might as well skip the see turtles which saves you a few euro, only visit the permanent exhibition.

The oceanarium is housed in a cleverly constructed building based on the Expo 98 site which is a fab area to spend time in. Once inside the building there are easy to follow directions to all of the exhibits. Children and adults of all ages will find it interesting and informative. There are also a number of outdoor areas where... More

All kind of fish and under-sea creatures, otters, pinguins and turtles - very nice. I also liked the short documentary on the "behind-the-scene" of the oceanarium, screened in a mini-cinema towards the exit of the exhibitions. The park/seaside along the oceanarium is great for walking and relaxing, the nearby shopping mall great for a bit of spending :)
