There are several splendid, scenic courses in the area. Not only challenging, but also manicured and empty. Quite nice to be able to golf in the morning, beach comb in the afternoon, and dine out on seafood in the evening. I think the whole area is an under-rated tourist destination.

Recently played both the Ocean and Royal courses and both were excellent. The Ocean course, in particular, has some lovely holes by the Ocean.
Quite expensive relative to some other courses in the Algarve but a must for any serious golfer visiting the area.

McGinty's Bar is a new addition this year to the Vale do Lobo social landscape and what a welcoming haven it is. Located by Barrington's hotel and driving range, this is a simple, unpretentious bar with a log stove, a couple of TVs and attentive, friendly hosts in Brian & Christine.

The resort is beautiful, the golf courses are great, the beach is nice and I would definately return to this resort, however you get charged for everything from beach towels to lounge chairs for example. All in all, nice place but for what you pay its annoying to have every little thing be an extra charge.

We stayed at Vale do Lobo close to Barringtons for a week from 02/09/2006 and enjoyed a great week of sun, golf, great food, plenty of beer and wine and great nightlife.
