The buglers are all volunteers and they turn out every day of theyear, rain or shine. If you've never heard the Last Post ( the tribute to a dead soldier, using the bugle call that sounds the end... I have visited this moving ceremony since my family lived in Belgium in the 70's and 80's. A visit seeking Grandpa's story, trips to Sanctuary Wood and Hill 60. Tea at Old Tom's then standing listening to the last post, sometimes with a crowd or even more movingly just the family, a few others and the bugles resonating around the... More

If you're in Ieper, definitely go to the Menin Gate at 8pm. The ceremony is traditional and very appropriate to the history of the region. More

It seems disrespectful to say the Last Post Ceremony was "excellent" but there are no other choices which closely describe the event. This is a ceremony which has continued every night at 20:00 since 1928 (except during WWII) and was formed, continued to be run and managed by local thankful Belgiums from Ieper and surrounding towns. With the 100th Anniversary... More

The daily 8pm ceremony is a great tribute to the fallen and attended by people from all over the world. Its better to get there early for a clearer view but is a great setting and a real experience not to be missed when in Ieper. More

A moving tribute to the fallen. Position yourself towards the outer most part of the Menin gate (out of town end) for the best view of the action. More
