The Central Africa museum has an amazing collection of exhibits that will impress also those, who do not have a particular interest in Central Africa. However, the museum is in a desperate need of renovation (which is scheduled to begin in July 2012), most info is available only in Dutch and French and many exhibits do not have a description....

Nice small museum in a nice small palace. Everyone who said that it needs renovation is right, but still it is a good place to spend half a day. The collection is intersting, though not big. When I visited it for the first time, there was a very nice temporary exhibition, dedicated to the river Congo. The museum is easy...

In line with many museums in Belgium that seams as if time stopped more than 20 years ago where no renovation has been made. Very, very sad...y

By the end of 2012 the Royal Museum for Central Africa (RMCA) will close its doors for a three year renovation period. All of its treasures are no longer exhibited - yes it needed modernization in itsold-fashioned displays of Africa.
When the museum reopens in May 2015, it will have drastically changed in appearance.
