For me the highlight of visit were the Flemish old masters, the wing dedicated to them is a must see. Some of the most beautiful art I have ever admired. There is also a room dedicated to Rubens etc. But for me - just those radiant pictures of old masters would be enough... So why not an excellent review? Mostly... More

Unfortunately part is closed whilst they remove asbestos. Odd to see a sign in a gallery apologising for the "trouble caused by this work". Felt like moving the sign next to one of the awful pieces in the modern art section. What was open was still extensive and had some excellent paintings and sculptures, including Death of Marat by David.... More

Together with Rijsksmuseum in Amsterdam, this museum is a must to admire some of the very best Flemish old masters. If you go for a guided tour, you will have the possibility to ask questions. If not, use the audio guides that explain fairly well what you need to know to enjoy your visit. Don't rush ! This type of... More

A necessarily quick visit to this Museum with an excellent and well known guide on a Sunday afternoon was spoilt by the persistent demands of the staff that we leave at 16.45. They were clearing and blocking off sections as we tried to see specific paintings. Their intention is that the paying public be out by 17.00. Opening hours are... More
