A large and potentially interesting museum. For me, the visit was marred by 2 things. First, and most important, I have never seen such a poorly lit museum. Many of the pieces were simply not observable. Also, it was so dark that most of the written material on the walls was impossible to read. Which I guess was not so... More

The building is beautifully done and the work displayed well but there was not enough English to help me enjoy it. More

Encompasses the career of Rene Magritte, but the best stuff is in a large room at the end of the exhibit. Our visit was made more fun by the antics of a gang of faux athletes who were doing mock exercise routines outside the museum, as if part of a tribute to surrealism (or at least fun). More

Difficult to separate the quality of a museum from the art itself. The museum is nicely laid out, over three floors and mostly chronologically. There is also a video room playing a film about Magritte. I got a bit frustrated with the works after a while, and some of the most famous pieces are not here. More

avoid rainy weekends, when it will be packed. best visited mid-week, possibly mid-afternoon, on a rare sunny day, so that the crowds are elsewhere sipping hoegaarden instead of jostling you around. most of the collection was already in Brussels, but with this museum it all comes together and almost makes sense. Not an art afficionado but this is just a brilliant museum and monument to the great Magritte. Well layed out, good information in english, dutch and french explaining Magritte's history and different periods and styles. Surrealism at it's best! Stick around for the 50 minute film at the end of the recommended tour visit. Buy your tickets from the Museum... More

.. for those who are fans of surrealism and for those who just don't care. Magritte was a very interesting character of Belgian culture and the museum takes the visitor along his career and life path, showing his different artistic periods in a very complete collection of paintings, articles, drafts, sculptures and a movie (!!). It is just a pity... More

I knew very little about Rene Magritte and enjoyed seeing how eclectic his talents were. I only wish there was more multimedia about him in English. More

Definitely a must visit art museum right in the centre of Brussels. It has three floors filled with work from different periods of Magritte's life and most of it is excellent, really unmissable paintings. So if you think about surrealism don't stick only to Dali or Ernst! Magritte has used clever ideas to fuse reality and dream, complicate ideas and... More
