very interesting collection of printing presses, typesetting machinery and many old books, all housed in a well preserved house that is in itself very interesting to see. Well worth the admission price and easy to find close to the cathedral in the old section of Antwerp.

Didn't expect to spend so much time there but it was very interesting. Make sure to take an audio guide.

Hopped into Plantin because it was easy to do so with our Antwerp City Card - and it's a World Heritage site so not to be missed. Rambling, fascinating old building and delighted to have a special exhibition of Medieval manuscripts - well worth seeing.

I attended during the Illuminated Manuscript exhibit. On some of the regular displays, I questioned the authenticity of some of the displays. The samples did not appear to adhere to traditional methods. Give yourself plenty of time. Not to be rushed through for sure!

One of the great things about this museum is getting to it. It is set in a little square which itself has a great deal of history. This home was a printing factory and includes a Gutenberg Bible along with many other beautiful books. The family actually lived in the home while it served as a place for printing. The... More

Where else can you stand within 1 meter of the two oldest printing presses in the world, see original biblical manuscripts, wonderful presentation of the history of printing, binding, and literature? This is an amazing place for the anthroplogically inclined. You can see the evolution and growth of printing and technology, the value and enlightenment of books and literature, and... More

This is a very well laid out museum incorporating not only the old print workshop with all the equipment, also some beautiful old print books and bibles, including some old copper etching plates and wood blocks, It was also a private home with a glimpse of how life was lived in the midst of a thriving business.

This 16th-century house is unique. Having produced Bibles, maps, scientific books and much else, it was one of the most influential publishing houses in Europe and a leader of the publishing revolution. Museum like this is a rare treasure. Antwerp has it and it is a must while you are here. At least 2 hours are needed so that more... More

the building itself is breathtaking and worth paying entrance for in itself. Every room is so wonderfully preserved you could get a real sense of the lives of the people living and working here. There's also a beautiful inner courtyard which is nice to sit in on a sunny day.

This is a small museum with many small rooms. On display were illustrated manuscripts, some of which had left England in the 16th century to escape destruction. Elsewhere you could see the history of printing and publishing over a number of centuries. The rooms themselves were fascinating and very well preserved/ restored. The floors creak impressively and I almost got... More
