This 19th century building (finished in 1897) is 11 stories high and was the first skyscraper in Europe. Luckily it was not bombed during the 2nd world war. A momumental landmark in Rotterdam. Go there, have a drink in one of the cafe's and take a look at old and new Rotterdam.

Rotterdam's White House (Witte Huis) was the tallest office-building in Europe when it was built in 1898, and one of the few buildings in the center of town that survived the bombing raid on May 14,1940 during World War II.

This is one of the last remaining building of pre WW2 Rotterdam it gives you an idea on how Rotterdam looked like before the WW2 bombardment. It's great this has been preserved as it is and we can still see it today a must see

This is one of the few historical buildings in the city center which were not destroyed during the 1940 bombing. It used to be the highest office building in Europe (10 floors) when it was built in the 1890s. Great location by the Oude Haven (Old Harbour) too.
