This is a wonderful little museum in a lovely house in central Amsterdam. Extensive collection of purses &bags from the 17th century to the present. the historical information that accompanies the exhibits is well written & very informative. The collection itself is comprehensive with many beautiful bags. Very unique & not to be missed.

If I'm honest, this was the museum I was most looking forward to seeing during my recent stay in Amsterdam, and I wasn't disappointed. I must say that I love handbags so I was in my element - this is definitely one for lovers of bags, fashion and/or design.
It's a small museum that makes good use of its setting...

What an interesting museum! Both my husband and I enjoyed it. In my eyes, the museum told the history of mankind through the display of the purses and bags used throughout the centuries - right on up to the present. The quaint canal house was the perfect venue for the collection. Be sure to allow a few minutes for a...

A girlfriend and I visited this 17th century canal house museum whilst in Amsterdam last week. Enjoyed seeing the remarkable collection of handbags/purses/shoes over the past 500 years. Also reminisced on seeing the selection of platform clogs/shoes similar to the ones we wore back in the 70's. Very much a "girlie" thing.

I really enjoyed this little museum with its collection of bags and purses (and a few shoes as well); it tells the history of how bags evolved from chatelaines to handbags and clutches and contains some iconic pieces. I was a little disappointed by the gift shop - I'm a sucker for anything bag and shoe related but it didn't...
