I attended a concert given by the Leipaig Orchestra and directed by the beloved former conductor of the Concert-Gebouw, Riccardo Chailly. The music--Brahms and Shostakovich--was beautiful. We sat on the main floor of this beautiful old concert hall and I found the old, flat floor with seats placed in even rows in front of each other bothersome. It was difficult... More

The Concertgebouw is one of Europe's major halls and every visit is special. The acoustic is excellent, the audiences are warm and appreciative. The concerts I attend there are always part of the Master Pianist Series, and in those concerts at least the management provide free drinks before the performance and also during the interval. There is also a very... More

A wonderful experience, even it was in April 16. Can't describe the beauty of the hall, can't describe the formidable acoustic can only remember the feeling of "WOW" at the end. It was an classic concert of Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, with Mozart (" Wedding of Figaro", "Cosi fan tutte" and "Don Giovanni") and Maurice Ravel ("La valse", "Pavane pour une... More

We just went to see the building and asked for ticets, and we got for the concert the same evening. We had a wonderful concert with the full philharmonic orcestra. The ticket was not expensive and it included one glass wine before the concert, one glass in the pause, and the tram ticket to and return from the concert. The... More

We visited the Concertgebouw in the first week of May to have a look at this Architectural wonder. It certainly inspires and had me wondering at the creative talents of the designers, and how they had to achieve an acoustically inert yet accurate structure and make it in an impactful building Hole in one! Go see it, truly a masterpiece. More

We attended the free concert on April 25. Beautiful building~ over the top decor ~ smaller than we thought it would be. Arrived at 11:30 , doors opened at noon. No problem getting a seat. There are no tickets involved~ first come first served idea. There was a little cafe in the complex serving sandwiches & other light fare, coffee... More
