The lack of space is most likely the reason for big international stores not to flock together in the Haarlemmerstraat. That is great news since now you will find very nice little shops here. From olive oil to custom made candy and from design to books, wine and traiteurs. Good to know: at the end of the street (coming from... More

This street is now the best shopping street of Amsterdam, and recently also the best of the Netherlands. You can find almost everything to see and buy. The shops are particular and also their products. You can find a lot of diferent shops that are all nice and worth to visit. There are also a lot of nice restaurants and... More

Great little boutiques and trendy bars and restaurants! In fact: the whole neighbourhood (Jordaan) is great! More

One of the old dykes that used to protect Amsterdam turned into a shopping street that was dilapidated in the 70's but revived in the 90's. The Part furthest away from Central Station is the nicest. Do not forget to eat herring at the beginning of the street on the bridge of the Singel. Best in Amsterdam. More

This is a cool street that is not that far from Centraal Station. Like the other reviewer has mentioned, it is basically "the" alternative street to shop on. One of the largest and best cheese stores in the city is on the corner right when you come into the Haarlemmerstraat, and they will let you taste everything, and then vacuum... More

For shopping in Amsterdam, people usually go to the Jordaan and the 'Kalverstraat' and 'Leidsestraat' at the centre (straight up from the station). But, favourite of mine is the Haarlemmerstraat. It is a long, narrow street with totally unpractical two way traffic (it doesn't fit), and an ongoing stream of suicidal bikers going to work and back home. This street... More
