Even though I don't read Dutch I feel at home In this 7 floor media emporium. It is the Harrods of the library game and also has free WiFi and great views from the 7th floor cafe/terrace. Lots of non Dutch materials available to use and borrow.

Go to the 7th Floor - you will be overlooking the city and the harbor - great photos. Also, the restaurant on the 7th floor of the library serves delicious fresh food at extremely reasonable prices.
The building itself is impressive, but what we were really interested in was the view from the top floor! The sweeping views of Amsterdam are amazing from this top level and there is a reasonably priced casual restaurant there as well. So anything from a drink to a meal is catered for. Best thing of all.....it's free!!!
Would that we had a library like this where I live !! Modern architecture. Great self-serve cafeteria on top floor with outdoor terrace dining for views of the old harbour of Amsterdam. Ideal for lunch, a coffee break, afternoon tea. Food very good and reasonably priced. Won't break the bank!!
Have brought a few friends to this fantastic library when they visit me in Amsterdam and it never fails to get ooohs and ahhhs...Check out the "Mouse house" at the children's section. And have a cup of coffee at the rooftop with an great view of the city.
The OBA (Openbare Bibliotheek amsterdam) it's located fews minutes away from central station. 7 floors of books, CDs, movies and much much more. The OBA is accessible for free by EVERYONE, you don;t need a registration to walk around, to use one of the several PCs that are in there, to enjoy the view from the bar/restaurant at the 7th...

Try the cafeteria on the top floor. Great prices and good food. Library is worth a visit - lots of internet stations
We visited to see the mouse house which was great, especially for children . Had a great dinner on top floor with lovely views over the water
Great view over the Amstel. We had a great meal here - one of the best in Amsterdam. The Asian-looking cook was very surly but we enjoyed looking around the place. There is an attractive desk made of cardboard box sheets over at the Music section - sustainable effort - very good!
This is a really great library, but, despite what I had read, the restaurant was just ok. It's kind of a station-concept restaurant, with different lines for grill, stir-fry, pizza, etc. There are no directions to explain exactly how it works and the cooking staff were surly and/or busy. I didn't find that there was a lot of selection... pizza,...
