When you make a booking, you MUST speak french, because he has something small letter that informs you that what you pay is booked and not THE TICKETS. 100 euro around the person, from Montreux to Gstaad and return, enough what they see. Also, our return was to the panoramic train, and turned to the classic to our great disappointment,... More

We did the Golden Pass April 2013. The panorama train was super comfortable and the scenery gorgeous. We did make reservations but the train was only half full so they were probably not necessary. However, I would have been disappointed if I could not sit with my traveling companion. The visibility was not very good so we missed out on... More

I did the entire golden pass route in 2 days - the first day from Zweisimmen to Montreux and the second day from Interlaken to Lucerne. This was end April 2013, so didn't need to reserve the seats - infact, there were plenty of empty seats to choose from. The entire route is a visual delight - lush green hills,... More

There is nothing I can add to the comments regarding the scenery. It's just magical. We did Montreux to Luzerne in April '13 and there was still plenty of snow around. The trains are brilliant with huge windows and spotlessly clean. The seating is also quite spacious and comfortable. We reserved 4 seats prior and just paid for our tickets... More

The scenery along the route is fabulous. As a North American very familiar to the rocky mountains, the views are similar but with more villages and ski resorts along the way. In my opinion the most scenic part of the route is Luzern to Interloken. A great way to appreciate Switzerland's beauty. The negatives? We found the route to be... More

Though it wasn't the peak season, I was surprised how busy the train was so glad that I did reserve a seat especially the transit time between the previous train and jumping onto this line was short, so it would be chaotic having to find a seat then especially if you have luggage. Never had train ride like this so... More

Living in Switzerland, we have used the Golden Pass line many times - Montreux, Lucerne, Interlaken etc. Each time we had been on the Panorama carriages both in first and second class. This time we decided to do a trip from Gstaad to Montreux on the classic line. It was a true belle epoque experience. The beautifully upholstered seats, the... More

We took the Golden Pass Line from Montreux to Interlaken. A beautiful journey through mountains, passes and alpine farms. a must do when in switzerland. We had booked the Swiss Pass Second Class and then got the seats reserved for the golden pass journey. Paid CHF 11 for each reservation. Reservations were not really needed in March when we were... great views of snow capped mountains, great food options on the Golden Pass trains coupled with great service. It can be a nice 6 hour excursion up in the hills. 2 hours uphill and 2 hours at Gstaad and 2 hours to come back. All this is done with some great old-world charm.

I got this train to Interlaken for some hiking. What a great place. The train just winds its way through the mountains so just relax and enjoy the views. The weather to be seen from the train can be snow blizzards to sunny valleys in the space of 30 minutes.
