Our first real mountain,on way from Meriingen to Grindelwald. Massive piece of rock with cloud as a collar. Beautiful sloping valleys with grazing cattle (those bells !!) underneath.

At the end of the road (the bit up the mountain is only for bus) there is a big parking lot and a nice restaurant with sunny seating outside. The perfect place to wait for the bus and gaze at the glacier above. Starting point for many walks and MTB routes.

The normal route up the Willsgratli is very loose above the short glacier. Try to move over onto the Willsgratli Ridge as soon as you can to avoid the worst of it. The ridge is fairly good scrambling. The snow slope on the other side gets very soft early in the day and can be a bit slippy so be...
