We "had" to visit this church because the room we were staying in at il Seminario B&B was the San Frediano room. San Frediano has a beautiful large mosaic high above the entrance doors. There is a lovely wide piazza, car free, lined with benches from which to drink coffee and admire the glittering mosaic tiles in the afternoon sun. The inside of this church is also worth a walk-about!

Two things stand out here: the impressive mosaic facade and the transparent coffin of a home-grown saint, a canonised local girl who made good.

And they are all on the facade. Try to get there when the sun shines on them—morning in the fall and winter. It's difficult to get a good photo this time of year. The piazza is nice, with an excellent kitchen equipment store and a trattoria.
