Such a beautiful church. Stunning and so well preserved. Really plain and ordinary from the outside but just gorgeous inside. A shame you can't take pictures but understandable.

One of my favorite churches in florence and trust me ive seen them all. This, in my opinion, is one of the most unassuming and naturally religious places in florence. On a sunny afternoon, close to dusk, quiet surroundings, flowers growing outside the church. With fewer tourists in an off the main path, less ostentatious church, you really appreciate it.

We visited the Church of Santo Spirito and piazza during a recent trip to Florence while seeing attractions in the Oltrarno section of the city. In principle we thought this church was a good visit, worthy of inclusion in sightseeing on this side of the Arno River.
The Santo Spirito is surprisingly large once you enter its doors with 38...

The church has many works of art of the Mannerist and Baroque periods (a painting by Filippino Lippi was not on view due to restoration). The highlight is the wooden crucifix by Michelangelo in...

We went looking for the Santo Spirito Basilica located near the Ponte De Vecchio. It is one of the the last of Brunelleschi's architectural works. On arrival we found admission was free. I had read a number of tourist books on the Basilica and was amazed to find a work by Michelangelo - a fragile wooden crucifix - completed at...

The very understated church hides a wonderful surprise. The wooden crucifix carved by an 18 year old Michelangelo is so delicate and so lovely.

Santo Spirito was designed by Brunelleschi but built after his death. You can still see the pure, elegant essence of his design, even though the people who did the work were obviously influenced by deterioration of taste in the later 15th and 16th centuries. The harmonious proportions, the perspectives along the colonnades, and the solemn colors are true to Brunelleschi's...

The real masterpiece of Filippo Brunelleschi, the greatest architect of all times, although he could not complete it, it is still the most revolutionary Renaissance church, with completely new interior design, so much surprising that nobody dared to copy it entirely. the level of the work of art exibited inside is not up to standard of the architecture (but how...
