You must watch this marvelous building. You will never find something like this in any place. Consider this building was built without scaffolding.
Incredible and breathtaking. Allow time to take in the whole atmosphere of the Duomo, which is incredibly peaceful and moving.
This is the most beautiful building in Florence hands down. i found the outside of the Duomo more attractive then the inside. You can climb the tower but make sure you head in early to beat the crowds because it can get very, very busy. Breathtaking. A world marvel.
Definitely spend the extra 8 euros to climb to the top of the Duomo. The 463 stairs, although very narrow, were easy for any moderately in shape person to do. The view at the top was incredible. Get there at 8:30 when it opens, so there are not a ton of people.
This must be one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Italy and as they are in the process of cleaning the marble promises to become even more of a gem. The inside of the church however is quite missable if you are pressed for time.
Don't miss this cathedral. Get the story behing the suberb dome and the challenge faced in trying to make one like the Pantheon in Rome with is more than one thousand years older.
Italy has seventy percent of all the important structures and frescoes from the Middle Age and this is certainly one of the best in both respects. Three quarters cleaned the afternoon sun illuminates the front facade beautifully. The interior is simply stunning and a must see on any visit to Florence.
Whilst it doesn't quite get the accolades that some architectural masterpieces in the likes of Rome, Barcelona, or Paris get... the Duomo is one of my favourite buildings in the 19 European countries I've visited. The sheer size and majesty of the building is quite breathtaking and it has to be seen when in Florence.
I hadn't heard much about this before visiting and was absolutely blown away by it, one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. The exterior is incredibly elaborate and worth seeing at night as well since it is very well lit for a nice effect.
Cost 8 euros to go to the top and this was money well spent...
