The palace is dimly lit by candelabra as you walk through. Windows are shuttered because light must be kept from the paintings and wall coverings but it is absolutely intriguing as this place was occupied by members of the Martelli family till the last little old lady died in 1986 - she lived just in a few rooms - rarely... If you are able to, I definitely say check this museum out! They have very limited hours (only open on Thursdays and Saturdays). They say you must call ahead to reserve, but I was able to get in without calling ahead. In fact, I tried to call ahead, and the women on the phone told me that they only had... More

For History lovers, great tour inside a well-preserved Florentine noble home, once belonged to the Martelli family, close friends to the Medicis.18th C. decor, big art collection (works from Renaissance to Napoleon's age). Not just a museum, but a real house where people have lived. Congratulations to the wonderful staff, gentle and well informed, in particular Johanna and Alexandro. The... More

A well-preserved noble "palazzo", where the Martellis haved lived till 1980's. Enjoybale and informative guided tours led by a group of enthusiastic local experts. Art and history brought back to...
