This is a truly stunning place. Whilst I might not agree on why the place was built (more a display of wealth than for religious reasons), it does have an atmosphere even when heaving with tourists and school parties. Not many places can do that! It is worth the entrance fee purely for the art works alone but it is... More

The Titial Assumption is a knock-out. But don't miss the Bellini altarpiece, the Donatello, the Vivarinis as well as the Pesaro altar.Take your time. More

The Frari is properly rated a three-star attraction in the city. It is monumental inside, populated with wonderful sculpture and paintings. Simply sitting and soaking up the atmosphere of calm can be most uplifting. Spent more than an hour there. More

I say that this is a must see as it is stuffed with important art works by great northern italian painters. Just give yourself at least two or three hours and combine with the San Rocco School More

If you see nothing else in Venice, you must visit this church. There is a wonderful picture by Titian over the high altar showing the Assumption, with Mary wearing red instead of her usual blue. There is a wooden statue of John the Baptist by Donatello to the right of the high altar, and a gem of a Bellini in... More

The choir loft was gorgeous and it was large and well-decorated, but there were other churches we liked better. More

I should say I went in as it was raining! - the church itself is nothing special but the artwork is quite stunning - if you are into churches you can buy a 10 euro pass that covers most. More
