We took a side trip from Venice to Padua to see this church and the Scrovegni Chapel. This Basilica is beautiful, with excellent bas relief marble sculptures lining the area around St. Anthony's crypt. But the most moving aspect were the modern-day pilgrims, with heads bowed, hands on the crypt, deep in prayer. More

The Basilica is beautiful, no question about that,... but it's not the beauty that moves you... it's the devotion shown by the people praying at St. Anthony's tomb. Gives a touching vibe to your visit.. Impressive! More

Another place not to miss in Padova. The Chapel of St. Anthony is probably one of the finest you will see anywhere. More

As a tourist, when you visit churches in Europe, you notice that you are surrounded by other tourists. Not so in this church, you are surrounded mainly by pilgrims. There is a huge devotion to San Antonio de Padua. That is palpable in the environment inside the church. Most people come to pray, not to be tourists. Personally, this was... More

It may not be the most beautiful or impressive church ever (santa maria may be more impressive) but it is quite nice and has a lot of history. More

This is a magnificent building of its type - ornate and splendidly decorated. The main attractions are the tomb of St Antony and the relics. It does not appeal to me at all, although I recognise its splendour. More

Attended evening Mass to commemorate the death of the saint. Visited his tomb. A bit dark. Better to visit during the day. More
