There are a few standout pieces here, Caravaggio, Hayez, etc as detailed in all the other reviews, but the vast majority of the gallery comprises religious scenes ripped from altars of old churches. There is a small section devoted to more modern art which is worth a look. I didn't bother with guidebook or headset, but if Italian isn't you're... More

This is a small and accessible gallery above an art school in Milan. It chronicles the greats of Italian art history with a heavy concentration on the art of the early-high Renaissance. Well worth of visit for afficiondos.

There's certainly a lot of religious iconography but to see original works by Modigliani and Caravaggio was an absolute delight and then to discover the artist Induno Girolamo was just brilliant! I 'd recommend having the audio support to help with all of the religious works but I'd go again just to see these artists' paintings.

A relatively short walk from La Scala, and the best art museum we saw in Milan. Several highlights, including Hayez's "Kiss," Raphael's "Marriage of the Virgin" and Caravaggio 's "Supper At Emmaus." Several other great paintings too, displayed brightly and in a not overwhelming manner (though very traditionally on the whole). Some English explanations and an audio tour are available.... More

16th century art all tends to look very similar unless you have an audio tour or better still you have studied particular artists or pieces of work beforehand. If you have done both then the Pinacoteca di Brera is worth seeing especially for its different Last Supper paintings compared to the other famous painting by Leonardo in Milan. While it... More

The art on display matches that in the Uffizi in Florence while you have to contend with a fraction of the crowds.

The pinacoteca has a wonderful collection of religious paintings throughout the centuries. The pieces are thoughtfully organised in the gallery, allowed enough space, and every room has chairs where you can sit and see the works. The light is exquisite and shows the works very well. Although there were quite a lot of people, the place never felt crowded.

Its true to say that this gallery contains a lot of religious art. However, that's not all it contains! There's a good range of art through many centuries. The gallery is arranged on one floor of the building and it was a pleasure just to amble around soaking in the atmosphere of great art in a great location. A morning... More
