The most amazing collection of art in what was a private house. A Piero della Francesca and a Botticelli as well!
This amazing museum was created in the house of a Milanese nobleman who was a collector and quite a character. One feels like walking through somebody's house while admiring an amazing collection of excellent quality
Marvelous building that has been home to the Poldi Pezzoli family art and decorative item collection since the late 19th century. Although it was extensively remodeled after being damaged in WWII, there are photos of many of the rooms before the destruction. It's quiet, beautiful and filled with interesting pieces. Very near La Scala, it's worth a stop.
The Museo Poldi Pezzoli is unlike other museums open on Mondays. The entrance fee includes an audio guide in different languages, there are lockers and toilets. The museum is really a pleasure to see, especially as it is located in the original setting with a rich family history. The collection of paintings, armory, glassware, watches and other exhibits is really... More
The private residence of Gian Giacomo Poldi-Pezzoli was bequeathed to the city in 1879 together with his incredible private art collection to which has subsequently been added the private collections of other patrons of the arts. we always visit here as it is a museum with a difference. not only does it house beautiful things--the watch collection is one of them-but the staff take a real interest in telling you about things you might have missed. also the family history of those who lived here is of great interest.ps this picture doesn't do it justice!
Amazing for its classical art, the main focus, but also extensive collections of jewellery, armour, furniture, timepieces, china and more!
We loved this museum. It is like a private house with some exceptional treasures and blissfully uncrowded. We enjoyed the fact that there was furniture, porcelain jewllery etc. as well as paintings, and the size seemed perfect, not too large and daunting for teenage children with a short attention span!
