Interesting displays in a wonderful building. Some good art by local artists. On the negative side, few of the displays are labelled in other languages, so difficult for those who don't speak Italian

The house itself is stunning inside with amazing ceilings, sculptures and pictures. The house has been extended into a neighbouring property and added to in stark modern style which suits the modern art displayed wonderfully. The museum is not stuffed with great masterpieces but rather is filled with 19th century historical paintings and furnishings of the Revoltella family. giving a fascinating glimpse of the life of the wealthy and well-connected in 19th cen, Europe. This museum is the pride of Trieste (though, personally, we preferred the Sartorio Museum). The museum's building is very beautiful, and it houses an interesting, somewhat eclectic collection -- we particularly liked the sculpture exhibits. If you like 18th-20th century European art, it's worth exploring for a couple of hours.

Wonderful historic rooms and documents showing Trieste as it was in the 19th century and earlier...the modern part of the museum has very interesting and important works of art.The views of the city are magnificent.

Absolutely deserted museum in a beautiful ex private home, complete with local masters, a few oddities, and a modern art section. Well worth a few hours.

It was worth the walk to find this museum it is just off the main road along the seafront but give yourself lots of time to have a good look at all the exhibits. It was a good guide to how the people of Trieste lived in their good times.
