The castle is a 15 / 20 min hike up hill from the centre of town, but the climb is worth it for the loveley views on offer from the battlements of the castle. We actually walked round the castle and couldnt find the way in as the main hate appeared to be being rennovated and no other route in... More

I could have a grandstand view of Trieste city from the castle. There was bus from Trieste Central station but I walked for 20 min to the castle on the steep slope. More

The Castello provides great views of Trieste from the top of the hill. You can climb around the old ramparts and see a couple of 17th-century residential rooms and some old weapons. The on-site museum of Roman artifacts was partially flooded and therefore mostly closed off as of mid-May 2012 (and this in spite of the fact that there hadn't... More

We wandered up here on our first evening in Trieste. It is a shame that it is covered in Scaffolding, but they are obviously working to care for this monument. Regardless of the scaffolding, it is still worth a visit especially to look out across the city, simply stunning. More

On top of the hill, not much left of the old buildings, but a very rich collection of medieval arms like swords and an infinite number of halberds. Nice view on Triesta and the Adriatic. More

The castle itself is not more than an average castle, what attracts is the weapons collection and a very nice sightseeing. Go there walking on the narrow streets, you'll get paid back by the real Trieste's sweetness More

The entrance of the castle was a little bit hard to find, because there was some renovation project going on in the castle, but the entrance fee was only 3 euros. The view from the castle walls was great. In the castle yard there was a small cafe. There was a quite large exhibition about ancient ammunition and other old... More

On hill overlooking town, you come upon a 14th century church with a simple interior, next to a fortified castle and a WWI memorial. Excellent views. More
