This class was amazing, I absolutely recommend this. The food was amazing, the teachers, Barbara and Valera, were so friendly and I had great fun making food with them. I now know how to make an authentic Tagliatelle al Ragu, and it tastes absolutely fantastic! If you can only attend one class I HIGHLY recommend the Bolognese traditions class, where... More

I've been to many cooking classes in Italy and in Europe since I am a food lover, but Salotto di Penelope really exeeped my expectations! When picking a cooking class in Bologna you should be careful, because there are many tourstic courses and activites offered by not Italian or professional cooks. Believe me Barbara and Valeria are really Italian "sfoglina"... More

A friend and I took this class and it turned out to be one of the best parts of my entire trip to Italy. Barbara and Valeria walked us through the steps to prepare gnocchi, ragu sauce, tomato sauce, tortelloni, and tagliatelle pasta. I learned so much--culture as well as cooking techniques, came home with recipes and have made the... More

What a great way to spend 4 to 5 hours in Bologna, cooking, eating and enjoying the company of really two great people. The setting is top of line line cooking school in a relaxed setting. We prepared home made, from scratch, spinach lasagna with a ragu that was out of this world. We also made the lightest gnocchi I... More

This was by far one of our favorite meals in Italy and we got to make all of our pastas and sauces ourselves. We learned so much and Barbara and Valeria were fantastic teachers and very passionate about their craft and city. We could only visit Bologna for a shirt period of time but this experience will stay with us... More

Ah, even as I begin writing this I start sighing fondly at the experience :) So as you can tell, I had a great time at Il Salotto di Penelope for a number of reasons. Down a little alleyway for a 10am start I was greeted by an effervescent Barbara and a very impressive industrial kitchen (I've worked in kitchen... More

My cousin and I took and evening class with Valeria and Barbara. Well worth the money. This was an excellent and informative hands on experience and then we got to eat the fruits of our labour. Yum, yum, yum. What I liked about this experience was that we were not just told and shown how to do something but actually... More

My daughters and I felt so at home with Barbara and Valeria! We laughed and we cried...tears of joy! I am a GOOD cook but I learned so much from these two wonderful ladies! The first class was pasta and sauces...yes we cooked...hands on ...the pastas and the sauces. The next two classes were a combination of their suggestions and... More

I very much enjoyed my cooking class with Valeria and Barbara. They are friendly, helpful and professional in teaching cooking and their kitchen is well-equipped and spacious. I spent my late morning to early afternoon in learning 3 kinds of pasta, tortelloni, gnocchi and tagliatella and 2 sauces. Even though you may not make your own pasta at home, the... More

We had not planned to take a cooking class in Bologna but with time to spare our hotel recommended it and we could not be happier that they pointed us in the direction of Salotto di Penelope. Barbara and Valeria were very knowledgable and helpful while keeping it fun. We got along well with the other "students" and you top... More
