Except for the little chapel to the side of the altar which is all that remains of the original 14th century cathedral; the present building with its imposing facade dates from C19. It suggests temporal might rather than the spiritual humility of the servants of God.

It has a dominating, stark, yet beautiful facade. Inside is breathtakingly beautiful with large solid white columns and a huge dome before the main altar plus smaller domes. Considerable light emanates from the high windows and everything is painted creamy white and pale pastel green.
