Unimposing from the outside, the inside is a gem of bright and exquisite painting and other decoration, as well as the place where one of the most discussed works of Bernini is located. This statue of statue depicting holy ecstasy is often perceived as erotic, a controversial opinion. The book and movie "Angels and Demons" mislocates the church as being... More

My family and I stayed at the St. Regis Hotel in Rome and this little unassuming church was right across the street. It is overwhelmingly beautiful inside. The other reviews state it better than I can, but I returned at least five times to gaze at the intensely beautiful interior and amazing Bernini. More

We waited on the steps until this church opened in the afternoon and it was worth the wait. The Ecstasy of St. Teresa is as amazing as you think. The church itself is a gem. It's small so it won't take you long to tour. More

Another Church which looks so small and ordinary from outside, and so magnificent with great works of art inside. (The facade is under renovation.) We went in mainly to see Bernini's statue, the Ecstasy of St Teresa, but found the whole interior absolutely beautiful and striking. The Bernini masterpiece is mounted fairly high up, and one does not have a... More

This unassumingly looking Church, not far from Termini Station, is a work of art that envelops you when walking in. A baroque masterpiece that, together with the organ music that was played at the time I visited (on a Monday about 11am) gave me a powerful spiritual experience. Of course, the main attraction here is the "Santa Teresa in Ecstasy"... More

We visited Santa Maria della Vittoria on our tour of the works of Bernini and Borromini. The Ecstasy of St Teresa in the Cornaro Chapel is a marvel. An angel stabs St Teresa with a golden spear as she swoons in ecstatic pain. More

Santa Maria della Vittoria contains Bernini's statue of the Ecstacy of St. Theresa. I missed it when I was there in 2011 so I made it a MUST this time. The church is not impressive from the exterior but this statue is just incredible. You MUST see it. It appears in the "Angels and Demons" movie but it is even... More

It may have just been that we arrived at the end of a mass, but this smaller sized church just seemed so real, despite it's lavish baroque decor. Bernini, yet again. More

In our view, Santa Maria dell Vittoria is the best Baroque church visit experience in Rome and one of our very favourite churches in the city. It is also one of our very top Baroque church visits in Europe, making this one a ‘must-see’ inclusion during trips to Rome, particularly for those interested in churches, the Baroque era or the...
