We found this on a Rick Steve walking tour late on afternoon in the Trastevere. Interesting and worth a side trip.

This is one of those many churches we found in Rome that does not look very much on the outside but once inside, its soo beautiful, completely covered in art work from the floor to the ceiling. Worth a visit. Across the road, its nice to chill out with a glass of vino, plenty of restaurants in the area.

This cathedral is definitely worth a visit, in quaint Trastevere. The ceilings have beautiful gold mosaic decorations.

Beautiful interior inside and well worth a visit to have time to yourself. Donations welcomed and again plenty of room for walking around without too many people around.

If all the overhead lights are on. You can really see the beauty. Oldest Christian church still standing in Rome was started in secret and the original founders were martyrd.

Tucked away in a charming town square, this church brought a solace to me like few other places. The niches of the church were witness to many joys and sadnesses I am sure and you could sense it as you past each.

This church is worth a visit. It is not as full of tourists as many others. The abse dates from the 3rd centuary ad. There are plenty of eating places nearby, cheaper if you walk a bit of the main drag.

Trastevere is a neat little neighborhood that's just a short drive from the center of Rome. The Santa Maria church is beautiful when lit at night. There are a lot of street performers, vendors and restaurants with authentic dishes. A nice break from the crowds in historic Rome. I gave an average rating because of all the the stoners we... More
