I'm sorry to say I had no idea this place existed. My partner suggested we spend the morning in the park up north, and he showed me what was there! As an archaeologist and someone who has studied Rome and related classical civilizations, there really wasn't the option of not going! The walk from the metro station was a pleasant... More

I love this relatively quiet museum in Rome. It has wonderful surroundings on the edge of the Villa Borghese park and with easy access from Trams passing by. The courtyard of the museum is really beautiful and is worth lingering a while for itself. I didn't really know a great deal about the Etruscans and so actually learnt a lot... More

If you have some extra time in Rome after seeing the main sights--or if this is your umpteenth trip to the Eternal City and you're looking for something to do that you haven't done before--this museum just might fit the bill. It's housed in a Renaissance villa that is something of a sight in and of itself. Highlights include: a... More

You go on a trip and want to have memories. So we get into the museum and I snap a photo of a pot. Wouldn't ya know it the Itlalians have camera nazi's. I don't know what the deal is but we were chastised for taking a picture of a clay pot! No flash nothing obtrusive. Then we were followed... More

This museum is very hard to find. It’s in the Villa Borghese, but it’s not clearly marked on the two maps we had, and the many, many people we asked didn’t know where it was either. We finally found it, and entered. It was OK. Exactly what it said it was. We had the clerk at the gift shop call... More

Located at the northwest corner of the Borghese Gardens, The National Etruscan Museum housed in Villa Giulia displays a large number of exquisite Etruscan art and antiquities in an air-conditioned, modern setting. There are few tourists; there is also little English information [thorough guides at the bookshop run 5 - 14 euro] and no photography permitted, which is a shame... More

4Euros entrance fee - no line up and no crowds. This former summer palace of the popes is now a delightful museum - exquisite collection of jewelery, extensive collection of Grecian pottery, frescoe ceilings and walls in the outdoor courtyard and private garden - worth the visit. Ask to see the frescoed "Cantina" - an area used to store food... More

If this museum were in any place other than Rome it would be flooded with visitors. But I would rather go here than visit any number of Roman ruins. If nothing else it is worth visiting to see the wonderful Sarcophagus of the Spouses: those Etruscans knew how to party, treat women as equals, and pay for great works of... More
