It is the most recent of the three remaining imperial arches in Rome (the other two are the Arch of Titus and Arch of Septimius Severus). This arch is religiously significant because it was erected to commemorate the battle that led Constantine to convert to Christinity and thereby changing the religious landscape of the western world. The Arch of Constantine is an impressive structure, even today. Just imagine what it must have looked like back in 315 AD when it would have been a proper entry way into the ancient Roman Forum area. This is an impressive structure built to commemorate Constantine's victory at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge. The problem with this attraction is... More

We viewed it from the Colosseum and again from underneath. I was glad to see it, but it wouldn't been worth a trip to us just for that. More

This is one of those attractions that you think will be different that how it appears in books or pictures, but is it not. It is a very nice stone arch. We walked by it on the way to the Coliseum, then doubled backed when we realized what we had walked by. More

There is no way to miss that if you are also visiting the Coliseum or Palatine. In your audio guide at the Coliseum there are also some information about it. More

Was able to visit the Colosseo in Rome last July 23, 2011 and on the northwest is the Arch of Constantine. Constantine is Roman Emperor who is responsible for the propagation of Christianity in Europe, though he is pagan...and only baptized to Christianity at his death bed. One of the remarkable structure you must visit while in Rome. Nice one! More
