This palazzo houses the gallery of roman statuary. The exhibits are thoughtfully displayed and explained. There not too many sculptures so one does not feel overwhelmed. The various rooms of the palazzo surrounding the exquisite terraced central courtyard with its terrace provide a wonderful backdrop. There is a real sense of harmony and even intimacy here.. More

We bought a three day museum ticket that included Palazzo Altemps - the collection is well worth viewing and a good way to spend a hour or so. The one drawback was the unhelpfulness of the staff - our ticket would not open the automatic barrier - the member of staff was trying to send us back to Crypta Balbi... More

The entrance is unmarked and difficult to find (the unmarked doors are left of what looks like the entrance door) and the staff are definitely surly. You're required to leave all your hand luggage (purses, backpacks, etc.) in a locker and there's no sign telling you this until after you've paid the entrance fee of 9 Euros. However, if you... More

This museum is all ancient sculpture - and it is quite a collection. Very much worthwhile for art fans. Extensive descriptions in English with just a few exceptions. More
