We went on a day trip to the island of Ischia from Naples port. We enjoyed the trip to the island. We spent only one day but we loved this island. There are lots of buses at the port that can take to different places and beaches on the island.

He took a tuktuk tour around the island and were nearly suffocated with the fumes it produced along the way. The traffic was horrendous again with fumes from all around. The commentary we received from the guide was very basic and a large part of it included the names of the highly rated hotels and spas. Sant Angelo was a pretty place to stop on our choking with fumes tour. We had a glass of orange juice that cost us €7 each! The Castle in Ischia Ponte was stunningly beautiful. It was the most horrible day of our Sorrento/ Amalfi coast holiday and we had done a lot of amazing sights and activities. I wouldn't recommend the tuktuk tour to anyone. We paid €210 for two and left with a headache and unable to hear anything from the noise the "vintage" vehicle, as it was described by the lady guide, was producing along the way. HORROR!

We went to Ischia after seeing it in TV. What a huge disappointment. It's a traffic busy mosquito infested island full of litter. Never again. Please don't waste your holiday going to Ischia with so many other beautiful places in Italy to go to.

It's hard to imagine that this island is part of the great Napoli super volcano area. There are timeless sights on the island like the Castello Aragonese, Sant'angelo and a beach you can cook eggs or potatoes in the sand

We took the our rental car on Medmar ferry from Naples to get here and returned to Pozzouli on the way back. the ferry ride is very enjoyable. Reminiscent of the search for the golden fleece.

My Dream Island
Getting off the plane in Naples, I thought: “I am here, it is the place, which I have been craving for.” At this very moment when I caught the specific smell of warm humid air mixed with the fragrance of seaweeds, it was the sign for me that my dream of the sea and the sun had come to pass.
For me, as a resident of a region where there is scarcely one or two months of hot stable weather, Ischia, the biggest island in the Gulf of Naples, the ideal place to visit for a stay and relax. On the other hand, I’ve never considered myself a couch potato: that is why this wonderful island with its long history and plenty of sights to see is perfect to satisfy my cultural interests.
Nevertheless, when I arrived there, I couldn’t describe my first impressions: the place was stunning: I was looking at ultramarine sea water, a magnificent rocky landscape and fantastic flowers, which I had never seen before. In no time at all, I had learned many new interesting facts about this island.
The island of Ischia is located close to the Campi Flegrei area, found on the sides of Epomeo, the large extinct volcano, whose last eruption is dated early 1300-s. The volcanic origin of this island is its main feature. Unlike many other Mediterranean resorts, Ischia is a welcome destination all year round thanks to its thermal spa sources which are in great abundance there.
Hardly any signs of cultivated soil can be seen on its mountain terraces, which are covered in woods. However the fact is that the fruit and vine from the local vineyards, are famous for their quality in many European countries.
With its splendid and limitless water ways it can rightly be called “The Kingdom of Neptune” because it is the habitat for of various species of marine organisms. There are many fantastic underwater itineraries which should be of great interest for many enthusiasts. Ischia is also a perfect place for underwater farming. In every street restaurant you can order whatever kind of seafood you like and wash it down with a glass of local light golden wine.
This beautiful green island is an evocative place for me as well as for many other people whose lives are divided into repetitive cycles that go from summer to summer only, who are waiting and longing for summer a symbol of life, full of plans to be implemented.

The island Ischia is so interesting it has a lot of places for searching! I recommend to tent a car, only 40 euro per day, and to search all locations in the island. The beach Maronti is the best!

Not worth the trip. Took a tour which included three hours at a spa. The spa was nothing more than a few pools and a couple of hot tubs. They were not at all maintained. The island itself was shabby. Just generally a wasted day in my opinion. Much nicer areas to go while your in Sorrento or Naples !
