The cathedral is imposing and wonderful. The visit inside was refreshing in that you are encouraged to relax, rest and refresh your body, mind and soul. We feel that this is the most beautiful church on the Amalfi coast and is well worth the visit. The construction with its black and white stone is striking.

We visited a number of churches in Italy, including St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, but there was no more meaningful experience than the one we had in In the Duomo di Sant' Andrea Apostolo in Amalfi. The brochure we were given when we bought our tickets set the tone for our visit by encouraging us to take the time to... More

The cloister is amasing. Muh more beautiful chucth than in Ravello and Positano. Advise to go in the afternoon to avoid the student groups.

The timing of our visit to the cathedral was dictated by the thunderclap we heard as we entered the square, and the frantic race up the 60+ steps to try to beat the downpour (we didn't). The importance of Amalfi as a maritime republic is captured in this impressive church, which is one of the highlights of the entire Amalfi... More

Well worth a visit. Amazing frescoes round the the cloisters, and the decoration in the crypt is impressive too (even if it is later). The display of relics and museum objects was oddly done (but I work in a gallery so tend to notice more). Similar decoration at the crpyt in the cathedral in Salerno (free).

If Catholic, Sant'Andrea cript is worth it. A visit, to where an apostle is burried is a very serene experience.

I paid my 3 Euros, with very little expectation, expecting this to be just another church. How wrong I was!! This is the most stunningly beautiful place of worship it has been my privilege to go into. The reliquaries, the chalices and vestments from the 8th to the 18th century were to be admired for their workmanship. The frescoes on... More
