A very beautifull and tranquil place. Never tire of visiting this Abbey. The Gardens are well worth a stroll around. Access to the Abbey is good and there is plenty of parking.
We visited late in the day when no one was around, very quiet and different from traditional churches. Especially beautiful site when the sun is going down on the snow capped mountains. Don't forget to pop into Torre de Passeri to the Bar del Corso for a delicous home made icecream after your visit!
The abbey has been renovated after the earthquake. It is extremely simple and unfussy with an atmosphere of great tranquillity. If you can go when it is dark there is very good lighting which lend an extra atmosphere. Just step in and there are sensors which switch the lights.
A truly remarkable medieval abbey off the beaten track. It is a real jewel in Abruzzo since there is no place comparable to this one for historical importance and beauty.
