We would have loved to tour this place, being that my best friend and I prefer non traditional musems. However, the website fails to mention that you are only allowed in if you book a tour. The workers were very rude when we came in and would not let us walk around on our own. What did they think, we... More

Since I read and studied Lope de Vega, the inhouse tour guide was excellent. She showed what would have been the life of Lope de Vega, how he got his inspiration and how did he live in his house during the 16th century. A must for Spanish language lovers, others who do not know not worth the visit. More

A marvellous secluded garden with a pomegranate tree and an orange tree, a water-well, and a quadratic walkway planted with box bushes. Meditative. More

Had Cervantes not been born, Lope de Vega would be considered the greatest Spanish author. He claimed he wrote 1500 plays (some 400+ survive). But he also wrote novels, lyric poems, and several epics. One wonders how he managed time for his vaunted love-life. During his lifetime the expression "Es de Lope" was synonymous with greatness. The house is a... More

My friend loved it because she is a fan of Lope de Vega. However, I didn't understand the tour - English ones have to be booked in advance. I did have a booklet in English. It was ok, but nothing special. More

That's right, there is no English language tour yet it did not seem to matter too much. Despite being 'saved' so long after the playwright's death, the atmosphere of this property makes a visit worthwhile - prior booking needed but I did that thirty minutes beforehand on-site. It's also free admission. Although I had heard of this person before, my... More
