Shortly before our trip to Spain (which included two nights in Madrid) we were reading about Madrid Rio, an enormous ribbon of park running about 10km along the Manzanares that some have called one of the most ambitious urban planning and landscape architecture projects in a generation.

Madrid Rio is a lovely, fun and FREE outdoor park by the river. There are miles of outdoor paths, lots if playgrounds and slides for kids and an outdoor "waterpark" -- wading pools, mist sprays, etc. Soooo much fun and great for kids!
