An artist friend told me about this museum. Paintings were lovely post-Impressionist. Also very much enjoyed the museum because it was in Sorolla's lovely home surrounded by gardens. Abour a 40-minute walk north of Plaza Mayor.

A small museum but an incredible feeling when you are inside this place and contemplate the lively and luminous paintings
It's a treat to find a museum dedicated to one artist, all the more so since the museum is the house Sorolla designed and lived in.
We loved this small home of a museum, although there were not that many works on display. We loved his artistic style, and were most surprised to have never even heard of him before today. The house itself is quite unusual, and decorated mostly by the artist and his wife, and has been restored to how it was when the...

This small museum is one of my favorite spots in Madrid. The museum was the home of Valencian painter Joaquín Sorolla's. The gardens, patios and interiors alone are worth seeing, but the museum is also filled with many of Sorolla's finest works.
A beautiful home perfectly preserved as a museum. The aritist's studio is intact and evey wall of every room has paintings that he created, including touching images of his family. Easy to get to by metro with lots of dining options near by. The gardens are a wonderful place to sit and meditate on the lovely fountain, pool and plants.
Beautiful gardens, beautiful paintings, lovely atmostphere. Much nicer to see artwork in artists home than on a cold bare wall in a museum.
Most Americans don't know much about the 19th Century painter Sorolla who influenced a lot of our realist artists. This museum--his former home--is a good introduction and a welcome relief from the immensity of the Prado and other Madrid museums.
One of my favorite Spanish painters is Joaquin Sorolla, so I love to visit this house-museum every time I visit Madrid. You do not feel lost like you do in large museums. There are also no large crowds, so you can enjoy the art quietly. I love the garden design also. The people in the museum are also warm and...

So many beautiful paintings; a surfeit of delight if you are an admirer. I went early on Easter Saturday morning; it was not packed but it fills up quickly. The gift shop has...
